YAAAAAY!!!

Just because I can't think of any good post names I have come up with a special word: yaaaaay. just because of that lack of names. But that is not what I am here to talk about. Mom is back- and she is an awesome mom! I did not only get the american saddlebred and quarter horse stallion, but another painting set as well (with the warmblood, cantering warmblood, and scrambling foal)! Here is a picture of the soon- to- be- painted horses:

Going from top row to bottom, left to right: American Saddlebred (Paddock Pals scale), Quarter Horse Stallion (Paddock Pals scale), Cantering Warmblood (Stablemates scale), Warmblood (Stablemates scale), and Scrambling Foal (Stablemates scale).
The saddlebred will be painted first.
Here is the color description for the saddlebred (skip if you do not speak horse): A flaxen chestnut with no markings on right front leg, a high stocking on left front leg, a fetlock on right hind leg, and a sock on left hind leg. Has a star and large snip (maybe broken stripe?), some dapples as well (you should know about those if you're reading the horse articles). Is realistic to breed and can be a pure- bred. Is a mare.
Color description for quarter horse stallion: And extensive black leopard appaloosa. It is rare for quarter horses to be in this color, but possible. A stallion (possibly not purebred, possibly a quarter horse cross).
Color description for cantering warmblood: bay pinto with bald face. Is a pinto dutch warmblood. A mare. Here is one of the reference pictures:

I believe it will suit her. I am still researching the colors for the warmblood and scrambling foal. I will probably discover them soon.

 This is the reference for the warmblood. Here is his color description: Very light grey. Has dapples, dark points on legs, black hooves, and dark mane and tail. Also has dark muzzle. Is a purebred hanoverian stallion.
I only need this one reference picture for him because this pattern is very easy. The hooves will be different (all of the grey), because I like seeing horses with dark hooves where there are white markings instead of light. This is just about personal preference.

This is my reference for the scrambling foal. She will have different foot and facial markings, but that's about it. This pattern is easy to follow as well so I only need one side. The only ones I really need two sides for are the paint and appaloosa. That's it. Here is the color description: red roan with three fetlocksand sock on left hind leg. Has small star and snip on face. Is a mustang filly (I have looked at pictures for all of them and their conformation is right).

Look who I believe is finished! I still have to check with my advisor/ teacher, but I believe she is done! This is her prettiest side, I think. It is just because of her mane and tail. I am so happy she is almost finished! Any comments? For a first sculpture she isn't too bad, right? Please comment!

Also, the expo was yesterday. It went so well! I could answer all the questions and it was very cool. I had fun!

AHHHHH!

Guess who won the race! Yes, it was BLACK CAVIAR! Yes!!! Yes!!! I knew she could do it. My Dad recorded the whole thing on the TV so now I can watch the whole race- opening ceremonies, and everything. Yay! That was Mom's idea. I'm so happy! Black Caviar is a 22 for 22. I saw in the newspaper a quote from her trainer or something that said she was closer to the end of her career to the beginning. Oh no! But that's okay. The horse has to retire sometime. She smashed the record three times! Hihi. I think she will be racing in some other race in England soon. I think that's the deal. I can't wait! She was racing against the best horses in the worl in that race- and she won! The Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot! The queen of England was there! And she patted Black Caviar! So awesome. Here is the photo finish (look to the top...). Luke Nolen (her jockey) was slowing her down to not pressure and this other horse (called Moonlight Cloud) just came up from behind her. Luckily she still made it.
Onto the soccer game. Our team is not doing well. We lost 2-0. Yup. There are a lot of silly things that some of my team mates are doing that they have and are being repeatedly told not to do. I hope it will get fixed.
Today I also watched the movie Brave! It's that movie about the scottish princess from Disney. I really liked it. It's cute, although there are some parts with bears and attacks. But my sisters could watch it.
Tomorrow is the integrated expo! Yeah! Finally it is going to be over (not that I didn't like it, it was better than last time). Hopefully it will turn out alright. You must remember that following the last expo it was vacation- and it is! Yay! It starts in sometime in July. Next week is the last week of school!
Mom is coming back tomorrow- I'll see her after school!
I think I will start on Star's Mane right now, too.

News

First: Mom isn't coming till Monday! Right when she was going to leave on her flight it was cancelled. Apparently New York was having a big thunderstorm. That was just pure bad luck. But then luckily she found another flight that will arrive on Monday morning. I guess it could have been worse.
I still can't wait for that painting set! I have discovered tips on how to prep the horses, paint them, and then finish them! Even if I don't have matte spry I can still gloss the eyes, hooves, and nose. So excited for that!
Yesterday I also went ice- skating with my soccer team! I thought I wasn't going to do too well, but I actually wasn't that bad and had a fun night!
And OMG, Black Caviar is racing today at 12:45! I wish I could watch it, but the ceremonies start at like 11:00 p.m. Melbourne time, and honestly, I can't stay up that long. You should see my wardrobe right now, though- it has almost no room to fit anything on top of it now! I've gained like 5 articles since the last time I wrote! Really! And tomorrow I will have 1 or 2 more. I do need that poster (whether it reports the loss or win- I bet it is going to be the win)! While I was looking for my favorite picture on my wardrobe look what came up:

That is the picture that dominates The Herald Sun's front page (on the internet).

Okay, after like 10 minutes of searching, I couldn't find it (the photo). Too bad. When mom gets back I'll take a picture of my wardrobe so you can see it. So yup! That's basically it! I have my soccer game tomorrow and will have a post about that.
The last thing is that Nobody has asked to be on the mailing list- I am sure it would be very convenient for some people! I'm always open for requests.

EARTHQUAKE!

So at about quarter to nine (or was it quarter to ten) on Tuesday there was a magnitude 5.3 earthquake. It was (I think) 120 km away from Melbourne. We still felt it here (not me). My dad was just sitting watching TV, when all of a sudden... shake! He thought that the washing machine was going to explode. I thought that was funny. So that was that. Everybody felt it but me. Why am I left out!?
Anyways, remember what I said about Black Caviar going to the race on Tuesday? Well, I asked my dad to buy the newspaper so I could see if she won and discovered that the race was on Saturday instead. Obviously we had a bad source. But I did get a beautiful picture that was worth the whole newspaper (in my opinion, it was one of those professional ones). I'll post a picture of my wardrobe when Mom gets back. I also found out that there's a taxi in London which is painted salmon and and black polka- dotted- those are Black Caviar's jockey silk colors! I guess we have a Black Caviar supporter there.

I can't resist putting a picture there- the posts look so boring otherwise! TOday I have soccer practice. Mom still needs to come back- we'll see her on Sunday! And then maybe I'll start prepping my horses (she's the one who is going to bring them back).

Peekaboo

I found this cute picture... it's not mine, but anyways. I call it "Peekaboo". The horse is so cute.

Dapples

Yup! This is the much- anticipated post about dapples! Dapples are little round light patches on a horse's coat. Like so (look to the side, technical difficulties): I love dapples.
But before you read anything else, I would like you to read this quote from someone who kindly corrected me on some of my points "dapples are not genetic. they can also appear on all horse colors. dapples usually occur when a horse's coat is changing colors, which is why they are most commonly seen on greys. greys are born one color, and slowly change to grey as they age, which is why there are very light greys that appear white, and darker dapple greys." I am keeping all the other original information on the post, though, just because other people have said otherwise about the matter and I don't actually know which is true (although I'm leaning towards the quote, I'm pretty sure that person knew what she was talking about).
I believe they can appear on any color coat except for duns. But I saw that somebody who had a dun got dapples! Who knows. Maybe the horse is a chestnut. Anyways, dapples are weird. They most commonly appear on grey horses, and don't appear as commonly with chestnut horses (don't ask). There are also different kinds of dapples! I think I basically just showed you classic dappling. Here is some star dappling:  There are basically three kinds of dapples (as far as I know): Classic, star, and reverse. Star dappling is my favorite. Do you see that some of the dapples in the right- hand corner look a bit like stars? Well, there you go.

Here is some reverse dappling (it actually looks okay!). It is basically like classics dappling, except the dapples are darker instead of lighter. I probably would've gotten this confused with a leopard appaloosa, but I wouldn't have been sure. I learned something new today!
I have looked up how dapples are caused, but I don't think there is much of an answer. Some people say that their horses have dapples some years and not others. Other people say that dapples are a sign of health. I even saw one person say that they felt the edge of their horse's dapples and that they felt oily. Some people thought that dapples are just purely genetic. I don't know why any of that happens. So yup! Here is my not- so- short article about dapples that I was dying to do!

Stuff

Finally, a decent blog title! No, just kidding. I don't know what to call it, though. There isn't really anything special going on. Onto real life events (conveniently numbered for convenience!):
1. My soccer team played the best team in the whole league. I don't even know the score. It was something like 5-0 (of course my team lost). I was defender for a half and it was something that I will remember for some time. The girl that was forward on my side was literally a steam engine. Like seriously, she would grab the ball and go head- first into you! Luckily I am one of the bigger members of the team so I was able to push her back and grab the ball and dodge her (once you have the ball, you have to get rid of it, or else she will kill you for it). I actually kind of liked it. Tough competition. It was fun. I should play with steam engines more.

2. Mom's gone to America. She will come back on Sunday. WITH MY PAINTING KIT! Yay! I can't wait to get it! I want to see how good I am at painting kind of realistic! I want to try to make it realistic. I'll even prep it like real model horse customizers will do! I will also try to make the eyes as realistic as I can and gloss the muzzle, hooves, and eyes. I am also thinking of adding MMM to prove that it is my custom. If I am good enough maybe I can keep trying and get as good as some youtubers like Cinnamonmewmew or XxBrokenPandaxX. They are REALLY good. And they're only a few years older than me! It would be cool to be able to paint that good.

3. I believe Black Caviar will be racing TOMORROW! Problem is, it'll be on at 1 a.m. here. Not that I would have been able to find a channel with racing on it. But I am SO EXCITED! What if my girl wins? She'll break her own record! AGAIN! I've moved her souvenir poster next to my hand- made Ruffian one :)

4. The expo is on next week! I am starting on my draft. I hope it is decent.

5. I know I haven't really done anything on horses lately, so maybe I'll make a little article on dapples. I love dapples  :)

6. I know that like a quarter of that was straight nonsense. But it is MY rantings, right? I like talking non- stop (when it's something I'm good at talking about. Like horses :D). Okay. Onto homework (and, of course maybe dapples post!). Yup. I've got homework. I like having attention here, though. It makes me feel awesome, you know? Like I've got the famous MMM stables in my ROOM! I feel proud. And don't get me going on how I love putting pictures up of my model horses...
